MRS. J. C. DONAHOWER DIES OF HEART DISEASE
Drops Dead at Her Home Yesterday Afternoon, Suffering From Heart Disease.
Mrs. Emma R. V. Donahower, wife of Captain J. C. Donahower, and aunt of the present attorney general, died suddenly from heart trouble yesterday afternoon while walking from a chair to a lounge in her home at 624 St. Peter street, St. Paul.
She had been troubled with heart disease for a number of years, and the ailment seemed to have been aggravated by the cold weather during the past few days. Captain Donahower called at the historical society yesterday afternoon and was talking of the trouble his wife was having. He was absent from home less than a half hour and when he returned found Mrs. Donahower dead.
Their adopted daughter, Constance was at home at the time and said that her mother had been seated in an arm chair during the afternoon. She swooned in the chair, but took a brace and attempted to walk over to a lounge in a corner of the room. Before she reached her destination she dropped to the floor in death.
Her husband was a captain in the Second Minnesota infantry and is at present treasurer of the military order of the Loyal Legion, and adjutant fo Acker post, No. 21. Captain and Mrs. Donahower were among the first settlers of St. Peter, and came to St. Paul sixteen years ago. Only the husband and adopted daughter survivie the deceased.
